The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH), Dr. Wilson K. Aruasa has commissioned a 330KVA, state-of-the-art stand-by generator.
Speaking during the commissioning on Thursday 24th August, 2017 the CEO thanked the supplier, oddmac engineering limited, for delivering the generator on time.
“I want to laud the supplier for delivering the generator on time and for their transparency-that is availing all the requisite documentation including manuals. This is commendable,” Dr. Aruasa said.
The CEO urged the supplier to continue supporting the Hospital staff during the warranty period.
He, however, cautioned staff in the Division of Medical Engineering against allowing unauthorized persons in or around the stand-by generator.
Dr. Aruasa also said that plans to construct the New 4,000 bed Multi-Specialty MTRH are at an advanced stage and that the groundbreaking will be done soon.
“This Hospital has become small for us. We are seeking to build an International Hospital of repute.”
The addition of the 330KVA to the Hospital back-up system brings the total to at least 1600KVA or 1.6 megawatts. This will ensure uninterrupted service provision to our clients.
In a Hospital set-up, electricity is used in operation of medical equipment in diagnostic services, surgical and critical care services. In case of Power interruption from the national grid, it is important to have a power back-up kicking in to continue supplying electricity. Failure to have back-up would result to risks of having drugs in cold rooms getting bad, specimen in lab getting spoilt and even lives of patients in NBU, Renal, Theatre and ICU are endangered.
Present during the ceremony were; Ag. Director of Administration, Mr. Kizito Amimo, Hospital Engineer, Odhiambo Atogo and Supply Chain Manager, Bill Sainah. Oddmac was represented by Joshua Kigen and Joshua Opondo.
